We had mixed feelings towards Madrid during our trip. Maybe it had something to do with the enormous sea of people flooding out of the metro, into the already overflowing city. It was probably the most crowded place we visited, apart for maybe Rome. Madrid did, however, offer us some very pleasant times.
Madrid has an abundance of beautiful parks. Add to that the gorgeous, sunny weather pretty much year round, and I can definitely see why so many people like to visit the Spanish capital. We spent the entire day at the park El Retiro in the city center. One of the most beautiful park's I've seen in a downtown area.
This is where you go in Madrid to escape the crowds. This massive park has a giant lake to row on, a crystal palace, and tons of statues and sculptures around the park. A great place to take a walk, have a picnic, or just read a book. I highly recommend visiting this park if ever in Madrid.
I can go on about the pro's and con's of Madrid, but I'm sure that'll get boring. Anyway, here are some of my favorite pictures from the Spanish capital.
Valencia

Valencia is a beautiful city on the eastern coast of Spain. The architecture is stunning. After walking down a few streets, it is clear that this place cares about the way it looks. Even lining streets with rows of orange trees sprouting on the sidewalks. We didn't get to spend too much time in Valencia, but would definitely like to come back there. It is like a less populated, more beautiful Madrid. That's just my opinion anyway.

Barcelona

First thing you notice about Barcelona...tourist central. The pick-pocketing laws in this place are very forgiving for the thief, so definitely be careful when visiting this gorgeous city. The weather in Barcelona is the first reason there are so many people visiting. The way the sun hits the brilliantly designed buildings of Gaudi is truly something to behold. There is so much to do and see in Barcelona.
